Rescue Ranch Needs Your Help! Rescue Ranch has been served an eviction notice to vacate the premises in which Lori Wilson, Director of Rescue Ranch, has kept rescue horses at for the past 10 years. Rescue Ranch has helped well over a 100 horses through her Rescue, Rehab and Relocation program. Rescue Ranch has helped dozens of at risk youth through the after school programs designed to increase and improve skills for studying and team work. They did homework first and then Lori took them from her home to work at the ranch Monday through Friday. They had to maintain a "C" average to take riding lessons or had to do chores at the ranch until their grades improved. Rescue Ranch provided education about abuse and neglect and reading the body language by bringing horses, goats, and chickens to the schools and giving lectures and demonstrations to nearly 2,000 children last year alone. The Rescue Ranch children also learned about composting recycling and planting gardens in their programs this year. The Rescue Ranch has also offered special needs classes for the challenged or disabled children. The Rescue Ranch kids assisted in these classes also by helping the instructors by leading and walking the horses. To be uprooted is going to be a challenge as we have no means at the present of funding for fences and materials. Although Rescue Ranch has been offered refuge for the children and animals on a 20 acre lease just south of their present location, we need your help. We have high hopes of moving and setting up at the new location and to start up another after school program. We have turned down several horses that were in need this summer as a result of not knowing if we would have a place to keep them through their rehab process. We are in need of a long term place to continue our mission in this area. The need is far greater now then ever with anti-slaughter laws in effect. Many horses are suffering because their owners don’t spend the funds to rehab them or pay to have them humanely destroyed. The children in this area we considered all at risk since Katrina. With families living in FEMA campers or hotels or with several other families there has been a rise in domestic violence and other stress related problems. This is an on going mercy and labor of love that consists 7 days week for the Rescue Ranch. Rescue Ranch has been dedicated to this community and would like to continue serving in this area. How to Help? We are going to need volunteers to help with the move and funding. Rescue Ranch also needs to find homes for 2 ponies, 2 horses, a yearling filly, a 3 month old colt, and one pig. If interested in adopting one of these animals please contact Rescue Ranch at Buy Book and Rescue Ranch Recieves!
During the Dog Days of August, a book promotion/fundraiser is being offered to Rescue Ranch. This offer is being made to a limited number of organizations at this time and our group has been selected!
